About the Game

Beyond Astra bridges the gap between tangible planetary gameplay and galactic grand strategy. Players start with a single city on an uncharted world and evolve their civilization into a multi-system empire. To claim the stars, they must tame dangerous biomes, conquer or ally with rival empires, and prepare for evolving endgame crises.

The game’s standout technical achievement is its revolutionary seamless zoom. Players can transition from the surface of their 3D planets all the way to the galactic map in an instant, without a single loading screen. This unprecedented sense of scale connects the micro to the macro: players can watch their cities grow and face orbital bombardments on the ground, then instantly zoom out to command their fleets across the stars.

Unlike traditional spreadsheet-heavy strategy games, Beyond Astra anchors its gameplay in a tangible, physically simulated universe. Resources are localized and transported via physical trade routes. Combat is slow-paced and driven by physical ballistics and customizable unit behaviors. Easy to grasp yet immensely deep strategically, players must build the solid foundations of their empire by harnessing the wealth of their worlds and space, evolving their civilization across six distinct pillars: Military, Economy, Culture, Religion, Science, and Diplomacy.

  • Six Pillars of Grand Strategy: Military might is only one weapon in the arsenal. Players can unify their population’s Faith to trigger miracles, use intergalactic tourism for cultural dominance, or employ espionage and economic disruption.
  • An Organic Population: Govern billions of citizens whose jobs, travels, political ideologies, and religious beliefs evolve organically. An active pause system allows players to progress at their own pace, while intuitive tools, such as city templates, help them master expansion.

Nebule Games is an independent studio based in the South of France, founded by two avid gamers with a deep passion for grand strategy and sci-fi.

Creating a real-time 4X that simulates a massive, seamless galaxy with 3D visitable planets is a monumental technical challenge for an indie team. To bring this ambition to life without sacrificing performance, Valentin (Lead Developer & Composer) dedicated six years to building bespoke multi-threading systems and a custom architecture from the ground up, while Alex handles game design, writing, and marketing. Nebule Games is a tiny team punching far above its weight, driven by the desire to deliver the space opera they have always dreamed of playing.
